Since 2020, we have been actively committed to an eco-responsible approach. One of our first steps was to take stock of our situation in this area by producing an “Environmental Report” available on our website. Below is a summary of our results and our eco-responsible commitments.
Faced with the urgency of climate change, and with the impetus given by the city of Geneva to move in this direction, we launched the “CAP VERS LE ZERO DÉCHET” project.
The 2024 edition of Tchoukball Geneva Inodores marks a turning point. An ecological and sustainable change of direction. Here’s an overview of our main actions.

COLOR-CODED SORTING CENTER INSTALLATION
For the 2024 edition, we set up several sorting centers with the aim of raising awareness and involving the public in our waste sorting initiative. These dedicated spaces were located in the heart of the Queue d’Arve sports center, so that they were easily accessible to all participants and visitors.
Each sorting center was designed with care and creativity to make sorting simple, fun, and educational.
We designed and installed bins with clear and intuitive color coding, allowing everyone to efficiently sort waste according to type: plastic, paper, metal, glass, or organic waste.
This approach is part of our commitment to reducing the environmental impact of the event and promoting eco-responsible behavior. Thanks to this initiative, the public was able to become agents of change by actively participating in the sustainable management of waste produced during the event. Building on this positive experience, we will continue this approach in 2025 with the aim of further improving our sorting system by offering ever more efficient, accessible, and innovative solutions for an even more environmentally friendly event.
Here is the distribution of the 13 sorting centers for the 2025 edition
BACKSTAGE VERIFICATION
During the December 2025 edition, a space entirely reserved and closed to the public will be set up in order to check all the trash bags collected during the event backstage.
We will carefully check the contents of the bags containing the various recyclable materials, as well as those intended for incinerable waste. This work, although time-consuming and meticulous, will be essential to achieving our main objective: to ensure complete, rigorous, and reliable sorting of all waste produced.
The public will make the first step in sorting thanks to the sorting centers set up on site. Our team will then take over by thoroughly checking the trash cans to validate and reinforce the public’s efforts in this eco-responsible approach.
INFORMATION AND AWARENESS-RAISING
To encourage waste sorting during the 2025 edition, we will install several posters at strategic locations on the site.
First, information signs will be placed above each trash can to guide the public in sorting their waste. Each sign will be associated with the color of the corresponding trash bag and will provide clear instructions and examples of items to be placed in each category.
In addition, awareness signs will be displayed in high-traffic areas—particularly near the refreshment stand, the entrance hall, and other busy areas—to remind visitors of the importance of sorting and encourage everyone to actively participate.
INTEGRATION OF WASTE SORTING INTO OPENING CEREMONIES
To raise awareness and understanding of our various sorting centers, we will be offering an activity during the opening ceremony. And this will continue throughout the 11 days of competition!
The game will work as follows: players come to the center of the field. Each participant must throw a product into the corresponding trash can.
This game will help us present the sorting center in a fun and informative way. It will be a full-scale presentation, in front of all participants. It will be presented to the players, but also to teachers and/or chaperones.
USE OF REUSABLE DISHES
For the 2024 edition of the Tchoukball Geneva Indoors, we decided to use reusable tableware.
The 2023 edition was marked by the first eco-responsible step, with the acquisition of biodegradable crockery. Not very effective, and with desire to step up our approach, reusable crockery was used. An acquisition that offers us a number of advantages :
