Tchoukball Geneva Indoors: 11-21.12.2025

In memory of Stefan Anhalt

Following the death of Stefan Anhalt, trainer, coach, club president, organiser, and key figure of the tchoukball community in Germany, a message from the vice-president of the Tchoukball Geneva Indoors :

Dear Stefan,

Today I learnt of your passing. Words fail me, a thousand questions are spinning in my head, why you, why already?

Many fond memories quickly come flooding back. How you and your team enthusiastically took part in the Tchoukball Geneva Indoors for the first time over 10 years ago. How you were able to enjoy both big and small successes.

Every year you travelled the long way from Weimar to Geneva. First with your ASC Weimar juniors. When I look at all the photos of your teams, I remember the joy with which you passed on your passion for our sport to generations of children and young people.

Soon you were also competing with the German women’s team at the Nations Cup and you also trained and coached the girls with expertise and passion. Watching you on the touchline on the pitch was always a pleasure – I wish there were more coaches like you. Always there with full commitment and expertise!

You were a doer, not only training your teams, but also organising countless local, national and international events. You were there for anyone and everyone and helped, connected people or found solutions to problems that weren’t even yours.

Over the years, we have developed a deep friendship and enjoyed sitting together – cheese fondue was always a must when you were with us in Geneva.

In June, we trained a new generation of referees together during the German championships. As always, when I visited Weimar, I was warmly welcomed by you, your family and the whole tchoukball family. It’s hard to understand that these will be my last memories of you.

On behalf of Daniel Buschbeck and the entire organising committee of the Tchoukball Geneva Indoors, I express my deepest condolences to Janine, Adele and Ella, the ASC Weimar, your friends and all those who will miss you deeply.

Erika
