Huge achievement for Italy at the Tchoukball Nations Cup!
From 18 to 20 December 2025, the best national tchoukball teams gathered in Geneva for the Nations Cup. The competition brought together 31 national teams from 15 different countries, divided into four categories. The event took place in a fantastic atmosphere, fuelled by a large, passionate and noisy crowd that filled the stands!
Despite the strong form of the national teams they faced, notably the Swiss and Singaporean national teams, Italy clearly demonstrated its dominance in world tchoukball at the Tchoukball Nations Cup. On Saturday 20 December, Italy won the men’s and women’s titles! This performance is all the more remarkable as it is the fourth consecutive year that Italy has won both titles!
Tchoukball Nations Cup – 18 to 20 December 2025
Three days of sport, passion, encounters and tchoukball at the highest international level.
After the junior competitions organised as part of Tchoukball Geneva Indoors from Thursday 11 to Wednesday 17 December, Geneva continued to transform itself into a true global hub for tchoukball.
International delegations flocked to the city, with particular anticipation surrounding the American, African and Asian nations: Brazil, Cameroon, Colombia, Canada, Hong Kong, Singapore, Tunisia and Uruguay, symbols of the rapid expansion of this sport around the world. Starting on Thursday 18 December, the Nations Cup matches took place on numerous courts in four categories: Women, Men, Next Generation Girls and Next Generation Boys. The matches provided non-stop entertainment, punctuated by spectacular action, dramatic turnarounds and constant interaction between players and spectators.
A historic ‘women’s’ Nations Cup – Record participation
The 2025 women’s competition will remain a major turning point: 11 countries represented, an absolute record. From the very first matches, the intensity was palpable. The matches delivered their share of strong emotions, celebrations, but also disappointments.
Of particular note were the remarkable performances of Uruguay and Germany, the real revelations of the tournament. Uruguay showed excellent form to finish in a superb 5th place, while Germany caused a surprise by reaching the semi-finals, only losing to Switzerland (58-21).
In the other semi-final, Italy drew on its experience to defeat Singapore in a match that was decided in the final minutes (50-43).
The eagerly awaited final between Switzerland and Italy lived up to all expectations. In front of an enthusiastic crowd, who were convinced that Switzerland could pull off an upset, especially after defeating Italy in the qualifiers, the two teams fought an intense battle.
But once again, Italy’s mastery made the difference (46-42). The Italians lifted the trophy for the fourth consecutive year, a remarkable achievement!
A spectacular and unpredictable Nations Cup for the men’s teams
Ten national teams competed in the men’s tournament, offering an excellent level of play from the very first matches. Singapore’s participation in the men’s competition for the very first time made the tournament even more unpredictable and interesting.
In the semi-finals, Italy ended the United Kingdom’s superb run (75-34), while Singapore, in its very first appearance, achieved a remarkable feat by eliminating Switzerland on its home turf in a match that lived up to all expectations (63-68).
The grand final between Italy and Singapore lived up to the hype in a packed arena.
After an intense and hard-fought match, Italy managed to turn the game around after a very good start by Singapore, winning again (70-61) and claiming their fourth consecutive Nations Cup, a tremendous achievement.
In four editions, Italy has won four doubles!
In the adult categories, the Italian men and women once again demonstrated their dominance.
Next Generation: the future of tchoukball already on stage
A major new feature of this 28th edition, the Next Generation competitions showcased the elite of international junior tchoukball.
Ten teams, five countries (Hungary, Italy, Singapore, Switzerland and Tunisia) and a very high standard of play confirmed one thing: the future of tchoukball looks bright.
Next Generation Boys
The semi-finals saw Switzerland U18 and U21 take on Italy and Singapore.
The final between Singapore and Switzerland U18 lived up to all expectations. After an intense and emotional match, Singapore won 57–46.
Next Generation Girls
Switzerland, Singapore and the Italian U18 and U21 teams found themselves in the final four.
In front of a crowd largely supportive of the Swiss cause, the final offered a superb duel.
Switzerland won 54–47 against Singapore, concluding the tournament without a single defeat, to the applause of a captivated audience.
A turning point for the 2025 edition
With packed stands, an electric atmosphere, spectacular TV/video images, international participation from five continents and an exceptional level of sport, the 2025 Nations Cup confirmed Tchoukball Geneva Indoors as the world’s biggest event in the discipline, alongside the world championships.
And at the heart of this 2025 edition, one fact will remain engraved in our memories: Italy, in imperial form, achieved a historic quadruple victory in both the men’s and women’s competitions. This feat will go down in the history of Tchoukball Geneva Indoors and world tchoukball.
