Chris Huang retires as FITB president – THANK YOU for dedicating 30 years to tchoukball
I met Chris for the first time during an invitational tournament in Taiwan in 1999. Since then, we have met many, many times and worked closely together, and here are a few important moments, highlighting how long we have been following each others:
2000: World championships, organized in Geneva, Switzerland
2001: Tchoukball summit in Geneva, discussing the future of our sport
2004: World Championships in Kaohsiung, Taiwan
2009: World Games in Kaohsiung, with the exceptional participation of Tchoukball
2019: Meeting of 4 former and current FITB presidents at the Nations Cup of the Tchoukball Geneva Indoors
Next to these official meetings within our sport, we also had the opportunity to meet many times privately. Several times I had the honor of visiting Chris on his family’s shrimp farm.
Chris has always been very dedicated and determined to develop our sport, first in his home town Kaohsiung, in Taiwan and Asia-Pacific and finally globally. He has never counted the number of hours of hard work he has given to our sport and has travelled to numerous countries as ambassador of tchoukball. He is one of the key people who have allowed our sport to experience the development it has had over the last decades.
After a total of 3 terms of presidency at the International Tchoukball Federation, he has now decided to spend more time with his family. I would personally like to thank him for his dedication to our sport and I wish him all the best.
Chris, I hope we see each other soon again, and you are always welcome to join us at the Tchoukball Geneva Indoors.
