Paweł Łyżwa, trainer of the junior teams of Otwock, Poland has passed away
Today we have received sad news that Pawel, after a short but intense illness, has passed away.
The first time I met Pawel, many years ago, he joined the junior competition of the Geneva Indoors. He arrived Friday evening with his team in the sports center, at that time still at Bois-des-Frères. Communication was difficult, but we understood each other from the beginning. Every year, he has been one of the many regulars, joining the junior competitions with his teams. Many times, they surprised the other teams, taking home some very fine results.
Every year, it was a pleasure to welcome Pawel and his team to Geneva, and with translation assistance, we enjoyed engaging conversations beyond just tchoukball.
Beginning of last month, at European tchoukball summit, Pawel represented Poland, together with his friend Leszek. We were sitting next to each other, sharing serious conversations but also many laughs, and it is today very difficult to understand, that Pawel is no longer with us.
On behalf of the whole team in Geneva, Daniel, president of the organization committee and myself would like to express our sympathy to Pawels family, his friends, his teams and the Polish tchoukball family. We wish you all strength for the time to come.
