Tchoukball Nations Cup – 18 to 20 December 2025
Three days of sport, passion, encounters and tchoukball at the very highest international level
Following the junior competitions held as part of the Tchoukball Geneva Indoors from Thursday 11 to Wednesday 17 December, Geneva continued to transform itself into a true global hub for tchoukball.
International delegations flocked to the event, with particular anticipation surrounding the teams from the Americas, Africa and Asia: Brazil, Cameroon, Colombia, Canada, Hong Kong, Singapore, Tunisia and Uruguay – all symbols of the sport’s rapid global expansion. From Thursday 18 December, Nations Cup matches took place one after another on numerous pitches across the four categories: Women, Men, Next Generation Girls and Next Generation Boys. The matches provided non-stop entertainment, punctuated by spectacular plays, dramatic turnarounds and a constant bond between players and spectators.
A historic ‘women’s’ Nations Cup – Record participation
The 2025 women’s competition will go down as a major turning point: 11 countries represented, an all-time record. From the very first matches, the intensity was palpable. The fixtures delivered their share of thrills, celebrations, but also disappointments.
Particularly noteworthy were the remarkable performances of Uruguay and Germany, the real revelations of the tournament. Uruguay displayed excellent form to secure a superb 5th place, whilst Germany caused an upset by reaching the semi-finals, only succumbing to Switzerland (58-21).
In the other semi-final, Italy drew on its experience to see off Singapore in a match where everything was decided in the final minutes (50-43).
The eagerly awaited final between Switzerland and Italy lived up to all expectations. In front of a frenzied crowd, who had long been convinced that a Swiss upset was possible – especially after they had beaten the Italians in the qualifiers – the two teams fought an intense battle.
But, once again, Italy’s composure made the difference (46–42). The Italians lifted the trophy for the fourth consecutive year – a truly remarkable achievement!
A spectacular ‘men’s’ Nations Cup, undecided right until the end
In the men’s competition, 10 national teams took part, displaying an excellent standard of play from the very first matches. Singapore’s participation in the men’s competition for the very first time made the tournament even more unpredictable and exciting.
In the semi-finals, Italy brought the UK’s superb run to an end (75-34), whilst Singapore, in their very first appearance, pulled off a stunning upset by eliminating Switzerland on home soil, following a match that lived up to all expectations (63-68).
The grand final between Italy and Singapore delivered a spectacle worthy of the occasion, in a packed and electric arena.
And at the end of an intense and hard-fought match, Italy managed to turn the game around after Singapore had made a very strong start, winning once again (70–61) and securing their fourth consecutive Nations Cup – a tremendous achievement.
In four editions, Italy has secured four double wins!
In the senior categories, the Italian men and women once again demonstrated their dominance.
The Next Generation: the future of tchoukball already on the scene
A major new feature of this 28th edition, the Next Generation competitions showcased the elite of international junior tchoukball.
Ten teams, five countries (Hungary, Italy, Singapore, Switzerland and Tunisia) and a very high standard of play confirmed one thing: the future of tchoukball looks bright.
Next Generation Boys
The semi-finals saw Switzerland U18 and U21 take on Italy and Singapore.
The final between Singapore and Switzerland U18 lived up to all expectations. After a match brimming with intensity and emotion, Singapore won 57–46.
Next Generation Girls
Switzerland, Singapore and the Italian U18 and U21 teams reached the semi-finals.
In front of a crowd largely behind the Swiss cause, the final produced a superb contest.
Switzerland beat Singapore 54–47, concluding the tournament without a single defeat, to the applause of a captivated crowd.
